Where Communication Became Craft
Education & Academic Work
B.A. Mass Communications & Writing (2015)
M.A. Rhetoric & Composition (2017)
My academic path was shaped by a passion for clear communication and empowering others to find their voice. From rhetoric to journalism to instructional design, everything I studied was grounded in one goal: making ideas land—and helping people grow.
Publications, Projects & Rhetorical Craft
Writer | Editor | Designer
Whether it was editing the Kaleidoscope multicultural literary journal, co-creating infographics for the SCSU Research Colloquium, or publishing pieces in the University Chronicle, I honed my craft of message-making across formats and audiences. My graduate coursework focused on digital rhetoric and communication strategy—equipping me to bridge classic rhetorical theory with modern business communication.
Projects included:
Designing two editions of Kaleidoscope from theme to layout
Writing over 100 published articles spanning journalism, satire, and reporting
Voiceover work and podcast production
Cross-department collaboration to create training materials, grant proposals, and outreach assets
Teaching, Mentorship & Writing Center Leadership
Assistant Director, Writing Centers | Graduate Teaching Assistant
2013–2017
I spent four years working in the Writing Centers at SCSU, eventually serving as Assistant Director. I trained dozens of consultants in peer tutoring practices, managed writing center resources, and led workshops on everything from grammar to graduate-level research. I also taught and mentored small groups of at-risk students in first-year composition, balancing empathy with accountability to help them gain confidence in their writing.
As Director of the Writing Center tech team, I also oversaw multimedia production of writing how-to’s, directed internal communications, and created presentations for classrooms, furthering the center’s mission of supporting writers across academic disciplines and ethnic backgrounds.
